Final projects are due by 4 pm, Wednesday of Finals Week.

You can turn in your final project by any of the following methods:

  • Upload your project to johndan.com using an SFTP client like FileZilla. Be sure to name your files or folders with something including your name and zip/compress folders into a single file.
  • Email me your project if it’s small enough. Be sure to follow the file name/compressing instructions listed above.
  • Drop off  your project in the Communication & Media office. Lorraine can put it in my mailbox.

Important: After you’ve turned in your project, email me to let me know

  • Where you put your project,
  • If it’s online, what the files is called,
  • Anything else you want me to know that will help me grade your project (including things you spent a lot of time on that might not be obvious on first listen).

If I’ve loaned you any equipment, you can drop that off with Lorraine in the Communication & Media office.

Have a good break.

What is a decibel?” reading: Read up to the section titled “Logarithmic response, psychophysical measures, sons, and phons.” For the quiz (after break), you should understand the basics of how dBs are defined, be able to use logarithms to figure out differences in dB for power and for pressure, and understand why dB scales are often weighted. (You’ll be able to use the Windows calculator in scientific mode to work with logarithms and basic math as necessary.)

Discuss headphone test results and what they mean.

Clarkson needs someone (by early next week) to record their train whistle for a promo. They’re paying (although I don’t know how much); should take under an hour. Contact Julie Davis (davisju@clarkson.edu).

Reminder: No class Thursday (to offset lab work). This will likely be the last “lab offset” class we’ll take off; for any remaining days listed as “open” in the calendar, assume we’re working on any open projects (film score, enviro 2, final project) so bring materials to work on and your headphones.

Other Reminders:

Enviro 2 now due 12/1 (but don’t wait to work on this: the micro-recorders will be in short supply for the rest of the semester)

Next Tuesday have raw material for film score work (a first draft is due next Thursday).
