Analog is the New Virtual…

… or something like that. The pendulum moves back from purely computer generated music to analog and then hybrid. Felix Thim creates machines that make music. (Wow.) On Dan Deacon’s new album, he uses an upright player piano retrofitted with MIDI to allow him to play things not humanly possible, a wall of sound out of a single instrument.
